What is a lash lift?

2022’s most coveted treatment, the lash lift, is a relatively low-maintenance process that delivers a long-term curled look with close to no effort. Basically, lash lifts are a perm for your eyelashes. But how do they bring your client’s lashes to their full potential? By altering the shape and colour of the natural lashes. The technician rolls the lashes upwards and sets them in place before the tinting process begins. The result? thicker, darker, longer-looking lashes.

What Is the Process of Getting a Lash Lift?

Much like a waxing appointment, the process of getting a lash lift requires the client to comfortably lie down on a bed.

The first step is to place silicone pads on the eyelids. As soon as the pads are in place, the lashes are lifted. Why? Because the technician needs to alter their appearance and give them a brand new shape. The lash technician will cleanse the area and place a silicone rod onto the eyelids. Right after, the curling process of the natural lashes begins. An adhesive is used to set the lashes in place

Once the positioning process is finished, it’s time to apply the lifting lotion which allows for the natural lashes to mould around the curling rod. 

Lastly, the tint is applied followed by the removal of the silicone pads. Usually, the entire lash lifting process takes up to 60 minutes.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

Depending on how quickly your natural lashes grow, lash lifts usually last 4-6 weeks. Just like every other beauty treatment, lash lifts need special care during the first 48 hours. Make sure not to use mascara or any other products to ensure the lash lift correctly sets into shape.

After the 48 hours mark, brush the mashes every morning using a clean mascara want and apply a lash serum.

Can lash lifts damage your eyelashes?

The short answer is yes. Lash lifts are perfectly safe for your natural eyelashes. Clients might experience dryness for a short period after a lash lift. 

How to take care of the lash lift?

As we mentioned, lash lifts are low-maintenance. If you want to maintain the beautiful look for as long as possible, here are something you need to remember in the first 8 hours after treatment:

• Don't let water or steam close to your eyes 
• Do not rub the lashes at all
• Don’t use any harsh products (eg makeup removers) around your leads 
• No eye makeup
• Avoid cream-based cleansers and cleansing milk
• Don’t book any other beauty treatments until your lashes set  
• Make sure that your lashes are dry  
• Don’t forget to brush out your lashes to avoid getting tangled with a mascara wand  

Can you put mascara on a lash lift?

Absolutely. After 48 hours, clients can wear mascara with their lash lift. However, it would be best to avoid using any kind of waterproof mascara due to their oil-based formula. Water-based mascaras are always preferred if you want to keep the lash lift in a tip-top shape for as long as possible.

Lash lifts and eyelash extensions offer different benefits. Some women prefer an all-natural look that’s easy to maintain and practical. Others need a touch of drama and glam.
